Historia A raíz del desastre en la campaña de Rusia, Napoleón Bonaparte tuvo que ordenar el traslado de casi un tercio de los efectivos franceses destinados en la Península Ibérica para hacer frente a la ofensiva del norte —con lo que el contingente francés quedó reducido a unos doscientos mil hombres— y de trasladar el cuartel general a Valladolid.
